Hydrotherapy

NEPTA installed a swimming pool specifically designed for dogs in 2003.   However, due to the move to TN, Julie no longer has her own indoor pool.  For the time being, she is not going to open a new facility with a pool.  She has decided to focus her services on educating clients, hands-on, land-based work, and building the PT 4 Animals blog to serve as an active community of professionals, students, and pet owners who can help each other to help more dogs!  Please sign up to be a follower and share your thoughts!  http://pt4animals.blogspot.com/

Just for education purposes, here are some benefits of hydrotherapy/swimming:

  • Improves strength and endurance
  • Improves cardiovascular health
  • Improves ease of movement
  • Allows for excerise with no weight bearing stress on the joints
  • Speeds neurological recovery

    Common conditions improved by hydrotherapy/swimming:

  • Orthopedic issues: hip dysplasia, cruciates, post-surgical
  • Neurological issues: paralysis, weakness, disc herniations, degenerative myelopathy, FCE, strokes, comas, etc.
  • Obesity
  • De-conditioned ("out-of-shape") pets
